Instructional leadership lacks a clear path from observation to actionable change.

Many frameworks feel theoretical or disconnected from real classrooms, leaving teacher leaders, coaches, and administrators without practical ways to support growth.

The language demands of rigorous tasks remain unclear in instruction.

Without noticing the language demands of learning, even strong lessons can leave some students—especially multilingual learners—without full access to the work.

Teams lack a shared way to analyze student thinking and responses.

Teachers, coaches, and leaders may see the same lesson differently, making it difficult to align around what strong teaching and learning look like.

Educators want classrooms where every student can access rigorous learning—but without a shared lens for instruction and language, improvement efforts often remain fragmented.

Why Instructional Improvement Is Often Uneven Across Classrooms

The Language Lens Leadership Certification provides the antidote to this fragmentation by creating coherence through shared observation and decision-making around language, cognition, and interaction in instruction.

The Language Lens framework provides educators and leaders with a shared way to notice, name, and support the language demands of learning.

The Language Lens® Framework for Instructional Clarity

The Language Lens provides educators and leaders with a shared way to notice, name, and support the language demands of learning.

Rather than separating language from content instruction, the framework helps teams understand how academic language, instructional design, and student thinking work together in rigorous classrooms.

Used across coaching conversations, professional learning, and classroom observation, the Language Lens gives schools a common foundation for improving instruction so **all students—including multilingual learners—can engage in meaningful learning.

Created by Sarah B. Ottow, Founder of Confianza and Author of The Language Lens for Content Classrooms.

—Adrienne Supino, Instructional Coach

"With Sarah’s guidance and Confianza's toolbox, I was able to cull and create tools, as well as design systems, that worked for our teachers and helped me to feel more confident in what I was doing as an instructional leader."

The Language Lens Leadership Certification equips educators and leaders with a practical framework to strengthen both instruction and academic language—so students can access and demonstrate rigorous thinking.

Through applied practice, participants develop the clarity, tools, and leadership moves to improve instruction across classrooms, teams, and schools.

What’s Included in the Certification Program

About the Certification:

The Language Lens® Leadership Professional Certification is an independent professional development credential created by Sarah B. Ottow and Confianza LLC,. Earning this certification demonstrates that a participant has successfully applied the Language Lens® framework in real classrooms to strengthen instruction and build instructional leadership capacity,.

To earn the Certification Badge, participants must develop a project-based portfolio demonstrating measurable changes in instruction and student responses,. This requirement is fulfilled by completing Confianza's signature Action Cycle®—a reflective process where educators identify a goal (Ask), review data (Analyze), test an instructional shift (Act), and evaluate the real-time impact on student learning (Assess),.

Please note that while this credential highlights your applied expertise and commitment to equitable instruction, it is a professional learning credential. **It does not equate to or replace a state-issued teaching certification, educator license, ESL/ELL endorsement, or university degree.
